In Britain, many dogs are kept in kennelling for various reasons such as boarding, quarantine and research. A number of papers have focused on optimising the welfare of dogs in research institutions by improving housing conditions. However, little attention has been paid to the noise levels which occur in dog kennels, and the potential adverse effects on dogs.
